Resolution:
1.Click on Start
2.Type “cmd” and hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
That will bring you to the command prompt in Administrator mode.
It you still have UAC enabled, it will ask you for permissions, click “OK”.

3.Navigate to your Vista system folder (i.e. C:\Windows\System32)
4.Type “fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\” (Without codes) assuming that you have your Vista on Drive C.
5.Reboot the PC

There is a new Policy setting in Windows Vista which allows you disable the display of thumbnails on network folders in Windows Explorer.

In Windows Vista Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions, you can use the Group Policy Editor to configure this setting.

Disable Thumbnail display on Network folders

1. Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER
2. Go to the following branch:
User Configuration Administrative Templates Windows Components Windows Explorer
3. Double-click the following option and set it to Enabled
Turn off the display of thumbnails and only display icons on network folders
4. Click OK.

If you enable this policy, Windows Explorer will only display icons and never display thumbnails on network folders.

Windows Vista - not able to restore using the Backup.exe

You are not able to restore using the Backup.exe file available on the restore discs or on the harddrive on which the backup was taken. The Restore window opens; however, the "Next" button does not get highlighted to start the restore process.

Resolution:Right click on the external hard drive and click on Explore.

Add another "0" in front of all the files starting from "10"... (Note: the renaming of files should start from 10 only and the backup files available before 10 should be omitted). For example:

backup.010.fbw - becomes - backup.0010.fbw
backup.011.fbw - becomes - backup.0011.fbw
backup.012.fbw - becomes - backup.0012.fbw
