"folder options" is missing in Windows XP

"folder options" is missing in Windows XP and you are unable to view hidden folders or files.

You may face this issue if DWORD for "NoFolderOptions" entry in Windows Registry is set to 1.

Follow these steps and change it back to 0. This should take care of the issue.

Its suggestible to take a backup of the registry, before modifying it.

REGISTRY BACKUP:----------------

1. Click Start and click on Run.

2. Type Regedit.

3. From the Registry menu, click on Export Registry.

4. Give a destination file (say Regbackup) and save it on to the Desktop.


following registry address: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]set the DWORD "NoFolderOptions" to 0 or just delete it

1. Click Start and click on Run.
2. Type Regedit.
3. Click OK
4. Click '+' beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
5. Click '+' beside Software.
6. Click '+' beside Microsoft.
7. Click '+' beside Windows.
8. Click '+' beside Current Version.
9. Click '+' beside Policies
10. Click '+' beside Explorer
11. set the DWORD "NoFolderOptions" to 0 or just delete it.
12. Restart your computer.
