Welcome screen disabled . GTGINA.dll error message

Error: A recently installed program has disabled the Welcome screen and Fast User Switching. To restore these features, you must uninstall the program. The following file name might help you identify the program that made the change: GTGINA.dll

Cause: This issue occurs if a third-party GinaDLL value is set in the registry, thus disabling the Microsoft Graphical Identification and Authentication file (Msgina.dll) automatically.

Perform the following steps to resolve the issue.

First, perform the following steps to backup your registry files:

1. Click Start, Run and type regedit.

2. Click on File menu and select "Export" option.

3. Give a file name (say regbackup) and save it onto the desktop.

Then perform the following steps to edit the registry:

1. Click Start, Run and type regedit.

2. Click "+" beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

3. Click "+" beside Software.

4. Click "+" beside Microsoft.

5. Click "+" beside Windows NT.

6. Click "+" beside CurrentVersion.

7. Click on Winlogon to highlight it.

8. On the right-pane of the registry Editor window, right-click on the subkey GinaDLL and select the option “Delete”.

9. Close the registry editor.

10. Restart the computer.

You can also download and install a patch from the following link. This would perform the same steps:
