Unable to download any files in Internet Explorer. You get a message that he is downloading a binary file and it does not open setup.
Try these steps to resolve this issue.
1. Click Start> All Programs> Accessories> right-click Command and choose run as an administrator.
2. In command prompt, type the following command and press enter:
Assoc .exe
3. Examine the result of above command, if it says anything other than .exe=exeFile than type following command:
Assoc .exe=exeFile
4. Exit Command Prompt.
Perform following steps to troubleshoot this issue further:
Reset Internet Explorer:
1. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. 2. On the Advanced tab, click Reset. 3. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset. 4. When Internet Explorer 7 finishes restoring the default settings, click Close, and then click OK two times. 5. Close Internet Explorer 7.
The changes take effect the next time that you open Internet Explorer 7.
1. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. 2. On the Advanced tab.3. Uncheck enable third party browser extensions.
4. Scroll down to find “Phishing Filter”, check “Turn off automatic web site checking”.
5. Click on Apply and Okay.
Disable Protected Mode in IE:
1. Click Tools> Internet Options.
2. Click on Security Tab, click on zones like Local Intranet, Internet and Trusted Sites one-by-one, uncheck "enable protected mode".
3. Click Ok, a message may appear at top your computer may not be protected, right-click on yellow notification bar and choose don't show this message again.
4. Restart the computer.
