Repair corrupt HELP and Support Center  in Windows XP

 

Follow any of these steps:

 

STEP1

 

1.Click Start,Run menu. In the Run menu box type in:-services.msc and click OK or, press the Enter Key.

2.In the Services(Local) window scroll down to Help and Support and double click on it.

3.Change the Startup type to Automatic and services status 'Start'.

4.Click OK/Apply.

 

or

STEP 2

 

1. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then click OK.

2. Locate the following registry subkey:

 

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\HELPCTR.EXE

 

 

If this registry subkey does not exist, right-click the following registry subkey, click New, click Key, type HELPCTR.EXE, and then press ENTER:

 

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths

3. In the left pane, click HELPCTR.EXE, in the right pane, right-click (Default), click Modify, in the Value data box, type C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpCtr.exe, and then click OK.

4. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart your computer.

 

OR

 

STEP 3

 

1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK. 

2. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Performance.

3. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.

4. Click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

5. Click Add, and then locate the Helpctr.exe file in the following folder:

C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries

6. Click Open.

7. If the Help and Support Center check box is not selected, click to select the check box.

8. Click OK, and then restart your computer.
