Volume/speaker icon missing in taskbar in XP

Volume/speaker icon missing in taskbar in XP

 

This issue could occur when the file associated with Sound driver is corrupt.

1.Click the Start button.
2.Click Run.
3.The Run window appears.
4.In the Open: field, type: cmd
5.Click the OK button.
6.The C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe window appears.
7.At the command prompt, type: C: Press the <Enter> key.
8.Type: CD i386 Press the <Enter> key.
9.ype:  expand sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe
10.Press the <Enter> key.
11.Close the C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe window.

Follow the instructions in the Place the Volume Control Icon on the Taskbar section.

1.Place the Volume Control Icon on the Taskbar
2.Click the Start button.
3.Click Control Panel.
4.The Control Panel window appears.
5.Double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon.
6.The Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window appears.
7.In the Device volume section of the window, click to select the Place volume control on the taskbar    box.
8.Click the OK button.
9.Close the Control Panel window.

The Volume Control icon should appear on the taskbar.
